Electronics 6pin pci-e plug

    can any one please tell me or show witch order the psu wires are placed in this plug as i only have the old aux thing plug and want to change it over to the new pci-e plug

    i think the colours/values may differ from psu to psu, sorry : (

    A diagram can be found here.

    The wire colours may be different but the values should always be the same. It really should be on it's own 12v rail too, IIRC.

    looking at that pic its great info thanks. The problem i have it that the psu did not come with the new pci-e plug. The psu is a atx1 unit and came with the very old slim 6 pin aux plug

    If you're not using the 4 pin P4 connector you could rewire that, if your PSU has plenty of capacity.

    i do use the 4pin i was thinkging can i rewire the 6 pin aux the psu is 500w

    Picture looks like it's from Ebuyer to me... please don't say it's their £10 "500W" supply. Do not try to run a high-power video card on that unless you're feeling lucky.

    It really depends what's in your system. Anything quality (Enermax, Antec, Tagan, Hiper, Seasonic) of about 400 watts should cope with most systems. Post your specs here so we can take a look :)

    Anything of about 420 watts from the above manufacturers should run that one fine :)
