this mod is to increase the lan-ability of my case. its going to increase the storage of my pc (2 more hdds) and add a small lcd screen for playing movies or monitoring dc++.

    PART 1
got myself a 7" Lcd TV from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Slim-7-LCD-TV-Monitor-In-Car-Widescreen-Audio-Video-AU_W0QQitemZ200114164276QQihZ010QQcategoryZ61399QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
    [IMG]
im going to fit it in the top of my case just above the 5.25" bay
    [IMG]
however i want to use the bay below for a hdd and a monitoring device. first things first putting a hdd in the bay however i need enough space above for the lcd so its time for a bit of bracket modding
    [IMG]
needed the bracket to be a bit shorter so nibbler time
    [IMG]
need to have the hdd sitting ever low in the bracket so more holes are needed
    [IMG]
now it sits nice and low
    [IMG]

    covering the gap

got myself a scythe karma meter

a bit more nibbler action to fit the karma in with the hdd bracket
    [IMG]
drilled a few more holes in the karma and then pop riveted in to the bracket
    [IMG]
    slot that thing in
    [IMG]
    modding that tv

the wires that connect the tv stick out of the side of the tv to much for it to fit into the case
first thing is to do is take of the cover (only one speaker damn them)
unscrew the controller board and file down the screw holes
    [IMG]
shift the board a few cm to the right and screw it down again
    [IMG]
    drill so downwards facing holes
    [IMG]
went to bunnings and mainline plastics and got some stuff
    [IMG]
the plexi will be used for the frame. cut the plexi with a dremel then sanded and polished the edges
    [IMG]
then i cut out the middle
    [IMG]
then i filed the tvs frame down a bit so that the plexi would fit in flush and wired up some leds as well
    [IMG]
finished or at least that part is
    [IMG]
    another small update

finished the arm of the tv, cut the arms from the plexi inside the tv frame
    [IMG]
pop riveted the arms to the hdd bracket
    [IMG]
these where the hardest part of the arm (bent it with a metal ruler and a heat gun)
all i have to do is cut the hole for the tv in my case and attach the arms
    [IMG]
finale finished the tv part of this mod and the rest is not very interesting

moved the speaker to the middle of the monitor so that i could glue in the some bolts (the speaker is glued in the tape is just to stop it shorting anything)
cut the hole for the monitor which was a really hard job because i had to cut away a lot of the 5.25 bracket and some other bits
    [IMG]
    mmm lots of metal
    [IMG]
    fit in the hdd bracket
    [IMG]
this is a power bracket i made so i can remove the power cable (the small hole near the door is for an rca cable )
the tv from the back (have not hocked up the wires for the karma)
    tv down
    [IMG]
    tv up watching the news

very cool but perhaps you should get some nicer speakers :) and to complete it vaccuum form the back of the tv so that when you lift it up your parts are no longer exposed

yeah i`m going to cut some mesh (don't have a vacuum molder) to fill the gap

and i have a nice set of speakers for my pc so i dont really need the good ones for the tv (unless you where bagging out my z680 which by the way are good)

Nice work! I noticed you're using a nVidia card, but is your picture stretched? I ask because getting a widescreen resolution over composite doesnt seem to work on ATI cards...

You should have found a small TV with in S-Video input then you could have used it as a second or third monitor

Alternately, use a cloth/fabric mesh to achieve the same effect as a vaccum mold while up, as well as hiding the hole :)

it does have rca in and i can use it as a third monitor i just did not have the cable until now

the picture on the tv in the posted picture in is useing it as a tv and not as a monitor so i guess its just a stretched 4:3, however i am useing an ATI card for the tv/monitor as you can only have one out put from SLI (i have 3 gfx cards) see sig

i went and got some 1mm stainless steel mesh which i might use (dam that stuff is hard to cut)

i have used some of it to update the look of my 4 in 3 and cover the now exposed 3.5" bay
