Thought I would start one and see how high people are getting with their clock speed.

    Good purchase :thumb:

I have the same card and am running it at 1150 clock speed with 1.18v - so you can push yours further. There is a good thread over at overclockers for 7850's. A few there are at 1200+ clock speed.

Im using the Sapphire TRIXX software to OC mine :D

I have the MSi 7850 Twin Frozr IV Power Edition and I am currently running at 1100MHz core clock and 5500MHz mem clock on stock volts of 1.075V. I was lucky that my card had an ASIC of 85.8% which means it has a high quality GPU on the card.

The things I love most about the 7850 non-reference is how cool and quiet they are. In a Dell Inspirion case (read, one rear 92mm exhaust fan, no intakes) this card idles at 35º and maxes out at about 72º with the fans spinning unobtrusively under 50%.

Having upgraded from a 5770, the idle wattage of my system has gone from around 90 watts to under 65w.

It is not a n00b question, I didn't find out about it either until I started researching 7850s.

ASIC is basically a measurement of the quality of the silicon on your graphics cards. The higher your ASIC %, the lower you stock voltage will be, the cooler your card will run and the further you will be able to stably overclock your cards.

Mine has an ASIC score of 85.8%, which means that I can take it from the regular clocks of the 7850 (860MHz Core, 4800Mhz Mem) to my overclocked clocks (1100MHz Core, 5500MHz Mem) without an increase in voltage and with very little additional heat.

The way to check the ASIC of your card is to open GPU-Z, right click the green icon in the top left hand side of the GPU-Z window and select the ASIC option from the menu.

Hope this helps and good luck with your overclock.

Good explanation above - I was the same I didn't know what it was either untill I started to research overlooking the GPU.

To give a comparison to above and the OC i have ahieved, my GPU reads a score of 75% ish.
