They're similar cards. One beats the other depending on the game. The AMD cards tend to have more overclocking potential though, which scales into performance well.

    e.g.

The 660 ti is effectively replaced next week by the 760, so I'd wait to see what happens with prices if you'd prefer NVIDIA.

Last time I checked the 7950 beat the 670. Plus you get lots of free games with the 7950.

When the 7950's overclocked it'll beat the 680 too. The 7950 reference clocks were probably a fair bit underclocked, they'd go a lot further. Same with the original 7970.

I forgot about the current games bundle!

Not in Custom PC's latest labs test it doesn't, the 670 is generally 2 -6 fps faster, the 7950 was faster in only 2 of the 12 tests and even then it was at a high res and the fps weren't high enough to be playable.

Overclocking the 7950 will push it past the 670/80 but what if the 670/80's are overclocked as well.

All moot points as I doubt Numanoid is going to overclock.

It depends on which model you're testing. Reference 7950s are not going to do well in benchmarks. The 7950 card I linked to above at its stock clocks beats the 670 in just about every game, and when overclocked there's no contest. The comparison is with the 660 ti though, as they're equivalently priced.

So many issues with Nvidia drivers these days I find it hard to recommend Nvidia and I've used them for years, ATI/AMD have probably had their driver issues as well but it just seems to get worse every time a new Nvidia driver is released, it might fix a few issues but causes a lot more, I want to buy a new card but I'm finding it hard to convince myself to go Nvidia this time

    Nvidia forum driver feedback.

It's the boost edition but not a 1ghz (925mhz)as far as I can tell and it's in the latest mag so I'd imagine they are on the latest drivers.

I know the 7950's got a big boost with driver updates but Nvidia have had driver updates too, mind you the latest ones are rubbish to say the least.

If I was looking for a gpu right now I'd probably be leaning towards the 7950 but Custom PC did give the 670 a premium grade award mainly due to the recent price drops.

Been happy with my XFX 7950 since I got it not long after release, remember you can get £20 off any card at dabs currently. (over £200)

Having owned both I can safely say that there's so little between the cards as to make any discussion about performance moot.

Price, bundle and cooler are far more important considerations imho.

Now that the 670 is cheaper I'd pick that over the 660Ti every time if you go green, it'll last longer.
