As I am buying a 7950GX2 in August, I also wanted to watercool it with an Aqua Computer block. So looking around in the AC Forums I found a thread about a waterblock for this card which I am so happy about.

Here is a picture of what the block should look like:

I am only buying one, not 2 for Quad SLi as I know that there has been alot
of problems with what games take advantage of 4 gpu's. I am buying one because from what I have seen, it is supports higher resolutions than that of the 7900GTX and the XT1900XTX. The advantage of the card in the future is when the bugs have been fixed with Quad SLi, I can buy another one which, will in the end get a price reduction.

Also I think I suffer with Fanboyism as I have never owned an ATi graphics card, although I am not doubting the power of the XT1900XTX. But at the current moment in time, I think the 7950GX2 is a better buy, but times change and if ATi better it (which I think they will), I will buy one when I build my next computer Project: Thor, because I want the best kit at the time.

The only bad thing in the review with the 7950GX2 was that the card was noisy as the fans are located under the pcb of the card and have less access to the airflow of the case and with the water block - I hope it will solve this problem.

thats what i was getting at, unless you have a res of over 1600x1200 an 7950GTX is pointless waste of money as a single 7900GTX will out preform at lower res's.

Though the card and the waterblock is expensive it is worth it, by using a GX 2 you get a greater amount of preformance you gain and the space you save from 2 7900GTXs, also if you were going to buy two and create a backwards quad-SLi setup you can water cool it, unlike the Panther option from Scan. And the ones from Scan arn't able to allow for watercooling and they are slower than a Dual SLi setup because of the heat created and the lack of cooling because of the tight alligment of the cards....
The water cooling block is a good find and im thinking of getting a GX2 and a water cooling setup for my next rig in about 8 months, or the next GX2 version...

Don't buy two 7950GX2 because I have just seen a review of the Panther from Scan,
Problems : If there's no Quad SLi profile for your game of choice, the GC driver won't automatically step down to a standard SLi profile and use two GPU's. Instead, it steps down to 'normal mode' and only uses one GPU so the other three just sit there doing 'owt.

It is still best to wait till these problems are solved. Buying one now though is better than 2 7900GTX's.

You can buy them now from Aquacomputer but they will be shipped at the end of the week (if you order them now), I am guessing but Kustompcs and Aqua-pcs in the UK will sell them once they recieve them. In the US - I think Sharka will sell them. Only a matter of time!!!

Looks like you couldn't even run quad SLI (on a board with one-slot spacing) with those unless you use those brass right-angle blocks... looks to me like the standard right-angle fittings would be too tight. But I could be wrong.

Looks very tasty, though I have no plans to ever buy a card that insanely mahoosive.

    I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!

OK, now that I have that out of my system, is there any word on quad SLi drivers for these yet?

I'm thinking that when i'm ready to go this route I'll fabricate some kind of rigid piping system to feed the two blocks in either a serial or parrallel system. Disappointing that they're such small diameter though. Perhaps a 3/8" to dual 1/8" manifold system. Still dreaming...

The Quad SLi Drivers for the 7950GX2's are currently just in the starting stage with plenty of bugs about and Quad Profiles that games need to run correctly are quite scarse but they are trying to fix 'em. Should have waited until they had mastered SLi but in the future I can see this being king of the hill. Until..... that is ATi get theirs out and have a Quad dongle on the back - LOL :hehe:
