    Hi,
I have an AMD Phenom II X4 955 and one Radeon 7970. If I wanted to go to 2 x Radeon 7970 in crossfire:-

    • Would the AMD Phenom 955 processor be able to handle it ok?
    • Would there be any bottle neck through the processor?

    Thanks in advance

    Ian

    Is your Phenom II overclocked?

There would be bottleneck on processor

You need a 2500k above 4ghz to remove the CPU been a slow down At 2560 x 1600

Which I assume your gaming at as you done need 2 7970s below that rez that's for sure

Totally 100% depends on the game and how its been loaded. In Skyrim, yes you'll probably be bottlenecked by the CPU (though we are talking only running at 100fps instead of 150fps so its not like you'll notice). In other games (like BF3) you won't be bottlenecked at all and the 7970's will get to stretch their legs.

The 955 is still a great chip. Personally I wouldn't worry about it.

It also depends on the resolution used. If you're playing across 3 2560x1600 monitors or something, then the GPU limitation will be far more apparent.
