Awsome design here. I painted a Swiftech 320QP rad like that and countered the red/black with the welded nuts for the fittings being in red also. I have since not painted its mate and decided to go with xspc rads although I'm thinking of picking up a Feser Monsta "The original one"
Can't wait to see this one finished, awesome thus far. However I noticed you are going to be running RAID5.. My strongest recommendation would be to run RAID6 or RAID50 instead as with consumer disks you are risking a full array failure when going above 10TB and one drive fails. More specific during the rebuild of the array. I am not sure how good the raid controllers you have chosen are on doing error checkings continuously, but with that amount of data a loss of the array would be hurtful i think. For more details check http://storageadvisors.adaptec.com/2007/07/10/effect-of-drive-count-on-raid-5/ . What it basically boils down to is: 1 disk fails. During the rebuild the array controller encounters an unrecoverable read error and aborts the rebuild. Array failed. All data gone. A consumer grade disk has a unrecoverable read error rate of about 10^-14, which means that statistically you will encounter one such error at least once during a read of about 10TB data. No guarantees of course but is it worth the risk? Of course if the data is backed up somewhere else or you can easily get it back from the original copies it might be worth the cost savings. Just some food for thought, I ran RAID5 on a 12TB array which failed and failed hard. Reripping all those movies (yes I own them, XBMC > Standalone BluRay) took a good month >_<
Going smaller scale... Hooooy! im back Sooo... its been what? about a year since last update? Kinda feel that i have to inform that this one is getting a reboot, starting NOW ^^, New hardware list Asus-ROG-Maximus-IV Sapphire 7970 - Crossfire (i has ninjad this pic) Corsair 1200w Corsair Vengeance 2000. Watercooling equipment mail's has been sendt around, kinda curious to who i will end up with 0.o availability aint really too high on 7970 blocks quite yet -.- Oh... and another small notice... all the HDD's has been put into a couple of 19" racks ^^ so there wont be the need for this one having double size anymore... somewhat sad to say it, but this will actually be somewhat close to normal scale for once !
Finally! Al tough I'm subscribed I checked back on the thread every now and then because I think this is going to be awesome! Now get on with it, haha!
Nice. Would you like a CPU with that motherboard? . Great work on the chassis, will subscribe to this!
