I'm slightly confused about the difference between a 6850 that costs £140ish and one that costs £160ish. The more expensive one has... more fans?
Different brands, different memory, different PCB designs, different power phases, different coolers, different packages, different accessories, different warranties, different overclocks... All factors in graphics cards. What games you planning on playing, and at what resolution? Will you be going multi-monitor, or just single?
I'm spending £150 on the basis that Deus Ex 3 might not be terrible, god help me. It seems to me that most modern games are console ports in any case. This affects things in two ways: 1) Demand for fast graphics has stagnated. Even if you end up rendering the same game onto a 60Hz monitor at HD resolution that a PS3 might do at half the resolution and frame rate, modern cards outstrip current consoles to a sufficient extent that it doesn't really matter much. 2) Most console games are of no interest to me. Sad, really, isn't it. The cards in question are by Gigabyte and Asus, so neither is a no-name. The Gigabyte one is more expensive and has a larger twin-fan cooler, but it's actually clocked lower.
It quite simple really. If you goin to max out your memory go with x58. triple is always better than dual anyone can tell you that. Quad would be even better, but its not out yet. Anyway you get the point.
