Hi Everyone, a while ago, my 8800 did the chessboard trick, and corrupted everything on screen. Booo. With the revelations of the oven trick, i gave it a try, and Lo! it works again. The only issue i have now is that I've lost all of the heatsink screws, as I repurposed them with a dremmel... and currently (for testing) the heatsink is held on with joyous ammounts of LX tape. My question is, where can I get these screws from? I'm overjoyed to have recovered my old kit, but im stuck without these screws? Would any bit-tech people be willing to ship some over? know of any places that ship them/equivalents? A replacement heatsink is out of question for now, as my money went on my 4890 crossfire setup, and the missus would use my jewelles as ear rings if i spent any more. Kind Regards, Ryan.
why did you dremmel the screws? finding the springs will be difficult enough, but any metric screw would do, just need to know the size. All very well in saying 'ship them over' but where is 'over' your location is a mystery
If you know what kind of screws they are then finding replacements shouldn't be a problem. The springs aren't really vital provided you're careful tightening the bolts. Moriquendi

I thought the device was well and truly destroyed, so i stripped her down and cannibalised the screws in a stupid attempt at mounting some hardware in case they were too long, by a few mm, so they were mashed, and then epoxied in place Im in the UK, London to be precise. Unfortunately, i can't remember for the life of me the original lengths, or diameters. the rest of the screws fell into the nether regions of my bits drawer. I guess i'll enamour the lady with a bunch of flowers, just in time for the parcel containing a new HSF kit arrives
Maybe contact the manufacturer? Just ask them what screws they used, most are nice enough to tell you the information.
The screws are M2 (6mm long). Fine threaded and there are 10 of them. If you get some thin cardboard/nylon washers you can do without the springs.
Woo thanks all, i've put an order in for 10 m2 screws, and nylon washers =) didn't cost too much either! i played crysis with it last night, strapped on with LX tape, the lx tape warped and it overheated lol. thanks again guys.
I think i might have all the origional screws from mine (and springs) from when i fitted my waterblock to it Ill find them out tomorrow
I should have a set also, If THP Dan can't find his, I might be able to find some to send you if you will cover postage.
