To be fair the common phrase "shy bairns get nowt" or in normal terms, if you dont ask you'll never find out. Baking or the Legal attempt are both free (except electricity for your oven) to do and could either a) keep a card going therefore no cost at all [hooray another weekend on the vinegar] or b) get you a new card thats of equal performance but will likely be a 650 nvidia card with a bit of luck If I were you if the above does not work then go for a small 620/640 if its just HD videos you do without having to fork out more than £50~60
Didn't know that. Interesting point. So I have a BFG GTX280 bought from scan. If it breaks within 7 years, can I claim equivalent from them? Sent from Tapatalk
Sale of Goods Act is 6 years from date of purchase. The word of the law is that you'd have to prove the GTX280 had an inherent defect when it was sold that manifested in a fault after continued use. In my experience SCAN will stone wall any claim outside of a warranty. Which is why I no longer shop with them.
I have a quick update: My old baked card has died yesterday so baking prolonged it's life by two months. I won't bake it again, I bought EVGA GeForce GTX 650 1GB for £87. Purely because it is the least powerful Kepler so I guess efficiency should be good.
In fairness, if you don't care about PSU hoggage, you can always snag a GTX260 for a pretty penny. Hell a GTX460 can be had for even less than a 650.
