    Help!

I have this problem with my 8800GT card. I've had it less than a week, and it's giving random performance. First time I played it, it was slow (about 9-30 FPS in TF2 maxed out at 1680x1050). So I went into my BIOS, made sure nothing was inhibiting the PCIE bus. Then it played TF2 at 50-70 FPS. Now, I play it again, and it's back down to 9-30, even after a restart.

    Any ideas?

Are you using the latest drivers? What power supply have you got?

Another question is how hot is it? Chances are that it'd just stop working entirely if it was too hot, (like mine did) but it's worth checking.

Either reinstall gfx drivers or uninstall, then driverclean then install newest drivers.

    Ok. I know it's clean - it's brand new!

Overheating? - Unlikely. It's spun up harder during CoD4 before without a hitch. Also, seconds after CoD4, when I check the temps in RivaTuner, it was less than 80C.

PSU might be an issue since it's only around 480, but it's supported an X1900XTX before, and not much is plugged in. Core 2 Duos are relatively low powered and there are still a lot of unused plugs left.

GFX drivers were reinstalled to not much avail.

I updated my BIOS and set everything to optimized defaults. It seems to work for now, but not sure what will happen if I restart.

I'm thinking it's a software glitch since it had worked 100% before, and is working 100% now.

You PSU should be more than enough to power it tbh mate (unless you've got 125 HD's without telling us! :p).
