arg, i've been looking around.. and so far pipex seem the best...

i've been with bulldog for 2 years and have had nothing but problems, so i'm leaving them...

plusnet/bt and most of the others have silly bandwidth limits, and the only limit i can find that is "ok" is 29.99, and pipex is 32.99 i think, with no limit..

so i guess its pipex no?

with port throttling and the problems my friends have had with customer service, you're right it's a no.

there's never the "perfect" isp.. i'm still on a package from 5 years ago which is currently 2mbit from BT. It's basically a wires only line with no limits. I'm gonna be sticking with it because A. i don't want a new 12 month contract during this turbulent time in the market and B. i don't want no limits

If your exchange is LLU enabled and your line is not too bad, I would strongly recommend going with 24mb broadband with *Be, which is only £24, less with all the promotional codes and a referral, and best of all its unlimited. However, the speed you get depends on you line, attenuation etc.

If you can get it, Telewest/ Blueyonder 10mb Cable is very nice IMO, i've had absolutely no problems with them, no dload limit, 1200kb/s download speeds, the only bad thing is theres a crappy upload, only 384k (~50kb/s max) and at £35/a month its a ok price (you get a free modem etc installed. Also its £17.50/a month for the first 3 months, more here.

God I sound like the advert

Another vote for Blueyonder, although if you're looking for something relatively easy to install then cable certainly isn't the best choice. The "10Mb" service is usually about 6-7Mbps, but you can get the full 10Mb early in the morning or in the late evening and there's no bandwidth cap or shaping at all.

I was in your position, went with nildram £25.99 as a 50gb peak and unlimited offpeak was sufficient. Totally unlimited i'd say Ace internet, check out adslguide.org.uk's forums for some happy feedback on them. By the way check adslguide for some good speed comparisons and customer feedback...

Read my earlier post in here, avoid pipex (they do port throttle) I left them for Nildram (a pipex company) and havn't looked back.

OK Nildram have a 50 Gig peak time limit, but in reality it would be hard to go over that.

I'm 5 days in, best 8mb isp i've had so far, deffinately recommended. Scary thing is I've been 'testing' :naughty: my speeds so done 10gb in 5 days - not much left on net I wanna download now... Still at this current rate i'd breach 50gb, but if I needed to solve this problem I could simply download offpeak.
Oh and nilly pings kick ass for gamers

Pipex has a 92GB peak time limit a month limit (or so the CS told me). I have been with Pipex for about 10 days now and their customer support is fab, I had a little problem with Wanadoo (my old ISP) not telling Pipex that they were ready for me to migrate, after phoning Pipex they put my ADSL max account on live within a few minutes and I was surfing the web at 7Mbps a few minutes after I put the phone down. They also knew what they were talking about and even though I've only been with them a short time, I would reccomend them tbh.

If you have LLU available, Be is very close to being the perfect ISP!

Nope, I've managed to get a combined 650kbps of you know what, it was probably limited by the network rather than my ISP, I don't call that throttling tbh.

And this was a stable rate, for a few hours in the evening... peak time.

So far the port throttling is only on the xtreme4 realm (the one I was on), but is supposed to be coming to all sometime.

I'm on the xtreme5 realm, so I suppose there are different "rules" for each server? Well thats a bit weird if you ask me.
