Ok I have an idea what might be going on, but I need someone to confirm.

    Just got me a
    Foxconn 945g7md-8ekrs2h mobo
    E2180
    2gb Corsair Ram

    System has on board gfx.
So it should boot in to bios no problems. But it doesn't.
Lights come on (lan light for example), hdds spins up, fans spin up. No display. No beeps. No flashing lights.

I did RMA the last board they sent me for the same reason. I just can't work it out.
Chances of getting 2 duff boards... not so likely.

I don't have a spare chip to try, but I would have thought a duff chip or ram would have caused beeps!
I've tried the ram in all slots and individually too.
The beeper is on board too, so no issues there.
How can I tell what has gone wrong?

I have tried unplugging everything on the board and still nothing!

I'm going to borrow a gfx card tomorrow to see if the bios has somehow been set to pci-e gfx by accident, but I can't see that somehow!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Have you tried a proper CMOS clear?

To be honest it sounds like you've got a dead board or a faulty CPU, although most boards recognise that these days.

So it could be a dead CPU then?
    hmm
What does a "proper CMOS clear" entail?

    Thanks.

Whip the battery out, leave the CMOS jumper set to the "clear" position overnight.

My feeling is either dead RAM, or dead CPU, probably the latter since it does basically nothing...

jazzyj, I found your post because I am searching for solutions to exactly the same problem with the same Foxconn motherboard. I could have posted the same message as you, word for word except my processor and RAM are different. Even stripped down to a bare board with just memory, processor, power supply, monitor and on/off switch connected, nothing happens. I sent mine back to ebuyer who confirmed it was faulty and sent another. The replacement behaves in exactly the same way. The serial number of the first board was UYBS63804496. The second board is UYBS63804293 (quite close). What's yours? Could this be a whole dud batch? Incidentally, the first time round I tried taking the battery out and leaving it for hours to clear the CMOS, as well as using the CMOS reset jumper. I have also sent a message to Foxconn on their support website, but I don't hold out much hope of an answer.

Well they seem to have taken that line off the website, so I am going to try and change my order to a different board.
I'm giving up with this lot!

Ok new board and a new chip are on their way to me now. Will have them tomorrow, should have the system done Wednesday or Thursday. I paid an extra £12 for the ASRock ConRoe1333-DVI/H i945G Socket 775 onboard VGA 8 channel audio mATX Quick Code:129895. Looks like a good board for the money and with DVI out!
Bonus. Maybe going for the cheapest board with the kit you want isn't always the best plan after all. :wallbash:
