PMSL at the mel gibson pic & the mr bim comment . Back to the project, the gpu cover is awesome & fits the build perfect .
Mel - Beaver .... I like the alum billet on the gpu, it's the copper that looks a tad outa place with it! The dvd is wicked
Yeah, you guys really oughtta have that copper block plated - maybe with plain nickel, but maybe not just the plain colour? Try with some cobalt nickel - something blue, if that's even possible. Would look cool with that custom backplate AND would fit the color scheme when compared to the optical drive bay, no?
Gibson: "Chicks dig it when I put the hand in the beaver..." ... ANYway... -The first thing I did was cut a test piece to see if the O-ring fit my pattern. This is a 3" x 1/8" O-ring. I have a lot of them since i bought a pack for Bloo's new block. Fitting a really big chunk of copper over the chip, and getting as much of it wet as possible was the plan here. The copper will be just under 3 inches square when finished. -I snapped a few pics of what I had milled before the Christmas chaos. You can see I already had to cut the reservoir access plate twice here. I kinda forgot the O-ring channel. -The cutting code was in a second file, see...
We decided early on the cpu water block would be Copper, so the gpu block just fell in line. what is seen, actually compliments the color theme.
OOOH! Hey, Bill! We should buy from this place! Don't even get me going on the $5 discrepancy... I guess everyone expects a tip now.
MOAR! I just love coming in here to check on the updates! Makes me smile every frikkin time! And I second that; Copper and aluminum goes really nice together, in terms of color!
@cheaps, good selection & pricing on 1/8" thick, decent shipping costs, but looks like Delvies beats them on 1/2" thick selection. @Angel OD, glad you're enjoying it so far! I'll post Ep#1 here on Tuesday, so ya'll can see how much we've already revealed here and why our Producer is watching this thread like a Hawk!
Though I may have seriously missed the point on this one, I've found that estreetplastics has some of the best acrylic prices (at least in the USA) so you might take a look at them too. We used them for the Lexan in my senior design project at college and they were great.
@Sixfoot - Oooooh! The selection is limited, but they are well priced and do small quantities. This is also the only shop you can get UV yellow, (and doesn't charge EXTRA because it's rare.) If a shop like this or Delvie's would order a limited stock of exotics, they'd make a killing. I want my glow-in-the-dark plastic! That screenshot I posted above can only be described as "internet rape," and that stuff was supposedly on sale.
Is it still called an 'O' ring even if Cheaps squeezes in the sides and the top and bottom? Desn't look very O-ey john
@Blarte, in Black? I'm sending a bunch for graeme out for anodizing this coming week. Let him know you're interested in reserving sales@kustompcs.co.uk @sixfootsideburns, it's always good to comparison shop eplastics to delvies too http://www.delviesplastics.com/ @Kojak, thanks for tuning in and commenting on the project log @Angel OD, while watching a rough cut at Randys, I mentioned "pron" in a clip and his wife asked why we're using Shrimp in the PC?!
