and Uh - which? quite obvious or just as convincing? To me, that was clearly digitally manipulated. I can't say that about the other one. I'm not saying it's absolutely real, but if it is fake, I think it's much better than the one you linked. (We'll see soon.....)
I'm going for real. Firstly, It looks VERY impressive. Secondly, The dock connector on the right. Thirdly, it could be Apples contender to Microsofts new gadget. Although, I don't think this will emerge as an iPod, I think it will be something completely new, like the newton (google it). Basically, I'm saying its real, and its a PDA type thing.
I agree. It even looks as if the environment could belong to a conference of sorts. While Apple would hate to have this type of thing leaked, it's also possible that they intentially let it loose (if it IS real) just to drive up massive hype that "they didn't start".
that drop down menu bar that appears is a give away. also I am unaware of a any sort of viewable screen that would hold up to having buttons underneath it. it seems like it would scratch up half your movie screen. I think it would be sweet if it was real but I'm betting it's bogus.
I too am guessing it is bogus, however there are screens that can easily take that type of usage. Just look at Sony's (now discontinued) Clie PEO line (personal entertainment organizer). I have had my NX80 for close to 4 years now and there are only a handful of extremely light scratches on its screen. I'm talking so light that I can't see them unless I reflect light off of the screen just right. We are talking 4 years of use by a kid in HS and his friends who want to play games on it. We have interfaced with the screen using everything from a stylus, to pens and pencils, to our fingers. I am amazed that it has held up this well. Still has an amazing battery life too! I can watch a good 4-5 hours of video on it before it needs a recharge.
DTE, read all of my post. It's "quite convincing for the last two seconds." And yes, the original one is better than the one I linked to. Doesn't make it real or fake, I was just showing that it's quite easy to make a fake like that. In the past, there hasn't been a huge amount of "leaked" photos and videos from Apple that turn out true. ch424
You're right - sorry. You should take a look at the GOOD stills that are out there now. I am completely convinced. (there are also a lot of BAD stills online.....) I'll see if I can find a link tomorrow when I'm at work.
Elaborate fake. The scrollwheel is operated, but this does not change anything in the video playback. Unless it is Volume, but nothing comes up to indicate that...
Exactly - I was just about to point this out. It doesn't have any effect on the screen other than a small top bar upon which there is (apparently) no change.
Because all they've done is take an iPod 5G, film that and add some fancy effects. They're all fakes, Apple wouldn't ever be this stupid.
I'm beginning to think what Tomm said is true rather than what I posted on the previous page: if the hand in the video was using a 5G iPod, then his thumb and the dock connector would have been in that exact same place. Also, if you change the levels in Photoshop, the video has *really* sharp edges. ch424
http://guides.macrumors.com/Gallery_of_Video_iPod_Mockups I'm convinced it's a clever marketing ploy by apple!
How to make a fake iPod - That video shows how one of the iPod 6G fakes was made. Until there is a design that is not exactly the same size/shape/colour as the 5G (albeit with a full-size screen), I'm not going to believe any of the fakes and wait Jobs opens his mouth on the 1st April.
I'm more convinced than ever that some of the images and clips available online are real. I've been reading various news and rumor sites - ThinkSecret in particular.... When think secret says that they have confirmed it with their anonymous source, it's true. This has held up historically and I'm confident that it will again in this case.
I think it looks fake... it *could* be a sly marketing thing though, sending out fake vids Looks like piece of plastic stuck to the front of an ipod (can see a dock port on the right), then just some time consuming video editing so it apears as if a video is playing on it. Do we have any professional video editors here?
Haha, hardly. I want my 5G iPod to be cool for as long as possible I really agree with what Jobs said a while back - "You can't have earbuds for your eyes". I have a few episodes of Futurama on my iPod and I've watched a couple on the train (maybe 3 episodes in total since I got it), but it's more of a gimmick than anything else in my opinion. Whereas I listen to music every day. There's also the fact that sitting on a quiet train, laughing your ass off at a tiny screen doesn't look cool. I'd certainly prefer to see an Intel iBook anyway (although are they going to have to call it a MacBook? I hate that name). /me wonders if it's worth ebaying my Powerbook now and waiting to see about an Intel iBook...
Bah, I seriously hope your 5G is obsolete on the 1st of April, Fool! A MacBook (sans pro) would be great too
