Looks good man! That mobo is great as well, I have the intel version, but the auto overclock did not work for me as it overvolted the chip too far to POST. 16GB of RAM seems a little bit like overkill though - nothing will use that much! And yes, you'll probably need two extra case fans (the M59 comes with 2, but has room for two more, remember the top fan mounts are 14cm, the side and back ones are 12cm), as well as thermal paste and an anti static strap.
The roof ones may be 140mm, but they take 120mms just fine. I fit one as an intake, and a rear roof exhaust, myself.
Glad you like it. That 16GB part was a formatting error on my part, it's part of the second MoBo's description, I went ahead and fixed it in the last post. I'm getting 4 GB of Ripjaw memory. So, any last comments before I go ahead and buy all this? I'm going ahead with the NF980-G65.
Looks good, read some of the customer reviews here - they are always a good indicator of things that professional reviews might not cover (long term use etc), 122 5* reviews is pretty good. Be aware that there are always negative comments, just make sure that they don't outnumber the positive ones (in this case, they don't at all). I have to say though, I don't know much about high end AMD boards other than what manufacturers are generally good.
I went ahead and ordered my parts. I still need to purchase the extra fans, some thermal paste, and a ESD wrist strap. Any personal recommendations for certain brands? How much thermal paste should I need? Also, are there any guides about setting up the computer? Not putting the parts together, but getting the BIOS configured and such. Is there much (any?) work that needs to be done between getting the pieces together and installing the OS. Perhaps I'll find information on that in the manuals? Thanks to everyone for the help.
A rice Grain sized blob will be fine. As for which brand, arctic silver is a very popular thermal paste editops thought u meant how much should be applied
Hey guys, just thought you'd like to know that I got my computer up and running; I'm posting from it right now. I just got the OS installed within the hour, so I haven't been messing with it much yet. The build wasn't too terrible, the Gelid and my RAM are having a bit of a dispute about space, but everything is running for now. I put it together in the Alienware (the M59 won't arrive until Monday, and I'll rebuild it in there some short time after that point. Thanks for all of your advice. I suspect that I'll be back here once I start to look into Overclocking, or when another problem arises down the road. Thanks again!
No worries dude, I hope you are happy with it! Now just get that Steam account up and running! Feel free to add me xJiltedx laters...
