    This is horrific.

I couldn't say anything that the article doesn't already. This affects all of us, not just Britons. If this happens then the major players in the rest of the World will follow. We need to do something. But what?

Not sure what I make of it, the ridiculously OTT style of that article and lack of sources to back any of it up makes me think it should all be currently taken with a large pinch of salt. Not to mention that powers to introduce secondary legislation are fairly common in UK law, it's not like having them in this case is going to be a departure from the norm or something that is unheard of.

Very disturbing and unfortunately not surprising at all..

Government going ahead with something that panders to a corporate interest at the expense of the general public? thats pretty much all they do full stop... :(

Roll on more EU protection as far as I'm concerned. The EU has done a far better job of protecting consumer and individual rights in the last 10 years than the British Government (and Scottish too, in my case) has done.

Heh, did Geffen take him out for more din-dins? ;)

Not surprising, unfortunately. Seeing as the laws they (any politician of any country) make don't seem to apply to themselves, they don't really give a damn. And, of course, they'd do anything to please their friends.

But yeah, what to do. I doubt we'll have a revolution in these modern days (and that probably wouldn't turn out good with all the different "interest groups", as everyone wants something completely different).

Argh! The only thing I consume is food. What's wrong with "customers", or even - dare I say it - "people"?

I know a stamp isn't that expensive, but with the amount of false positives their (so far secret?) system to detect copyright terrorists is going to throw out, this is going to waste so much money.

Looks like I'll have to stop VPNing to the UK in 2011 then, unless I want my packets inspected deeply (which is no doubt going to be less sensual than it sounds). Because, obviously, we're all criminals that need to be educated and watched. Bah.

    [edit]
On a sidenote, I was totally kind of right in the first paragraph here. Worship me.
