    Original story

If these are the sorts of people we're pinning our hopes on in Iraq, then it's hard not to see things as lost. :nono:

Cthippo posts the news. Don't shoot the messenger and all that sorta ethos.

As for his comments in this one, I don't see how they can be argued with, would anyone seriously suggest that Iraq is going to be "won"?

I do hope that someday someo9ne will ask themselves: what are we fighting for? Religion is a bad ground, and so is oil.. Which makes both the Bush goverment and the heads of Al'queda no better than the other.

If it werent for the sake of oil or whatever it is we want there, we should have left them alone in the first place. I dont mean to sound harsh, but had the west let the east fight amongst themselves we would have been better off.
Just be prepared to move in when there is nothing left of armed forces on either sides on the war that is in Iraq.
Will we win by that tactic? Yes.
    Least lives lost? Yes
    Cynical approach? Yes.

/me ducks for the flames that are inbound.

It would have been better had the US Supreme Court not decided 5-4 to elect Bush in the 2000 election. It would have allowed lower court rulings to stand and Gore would have been elected. It's even worse that the Supreme Court also ruled 7-2 that the matter should never have been heard at its court. Yes, indeed there is a vast right wing conspiracy. It does what it will and the people have little choice.

But, the choice to invade Iraq was made. Now it's a matter of going forward (if possible). If that means withdrawing the troops or sending more of them only time will tell. I believe one thing history will show up though. President G. W. Bush will be ranked as one of the worst presidents in US history.

    :sigh:

Actually, I'm right there with you. Many of the problems in the Middle East would not exist if it was not for Western meddling, and otherwise there is no reason to get involved in other people's fights. When the region has burned itself out, and people are ready to rebuild and run their country in peace, then, if we care so much about their democracy and freedom, we can offer some constructive economic help.
