Lately I've noticed a lot of new people round the forums asking about comp advice, whether it be building a computer or buying components which got me thinking, "Does bit-tech have a how to build a computer article?" So there I went, searching the words build and pc, I found some how to make a server (very helpful and definately remembering this if I ever build a fileserver) and build a wierd X shaped computer but couldn't find a single article that explained for new users how to get off the ground with building a computer or choosing components, it's a shame really. If there was an all in one article when I was new on the hardware scene then it would've made learning a hell of a lot easier. So what do you think? Fancy doing an article that explains and shows (preferrably with videos but screenshots are good too) how to install components and what goes where on motherboards? I think it would be a nice article and you guys seem to have a way of making complicated things seem less complicated and daunting to people that don't know. I reckon it should include explainations about the naming systems employed by Intel/AMD/Nvidia which can also confuse people otherwise what's the point? If you can't help people differentiate between components then building a computer is likely to be a very bad experience. Just my two cents and I hope you do an article of some sort.
Custom PC issue 73 (I think): PC Building Master Class. Mark is putting the finishing touches to the TJ07 tomorrow.
Wow that's pretty cool, but will there be any way for people to view it for free when issue 74 comes? Let's face it, it's gonna be pretty useless to people who decided they wanted to build a computer AFTER it's been made unavailable T_T Maybe being able to buy it (reasonable price) as a PDF?
I'll ask about international distribution. I still personally think we should do a ceros (flash) version too for everyone.
more importantly, is CPC indexed by google? people looking for advice on how to build a PC aren't going to have a collection of computer magazines lying around, they're going to be searching for information online.
Never seen CPC in US stores, did see it in a back alley shop in hong kong tho.... for 18$ US... I'd like to see it distributed in PDF format, with a logical subscription rate.
All these comments add weight to Dennis getting off their hide and creating better global distribution I'll forward the thread on
