What type of adapter would you use to connect wires going to the power plugs inside the pc. I know yellow is 12v and black is ground. But, I don't want to just electrical tape it together. Is there something neater? Also, I can't seem to find a guide for LEDs if anybody knows of one. My next question, is directly about my mod. How would a glass or plastic bubble top fare with regards to heat? I'm worried that heat may get trapped up there. Should there be a vent at the top of the bubble dome to allow air to escape? If it's hard to conceptualize, I'll post some sketches that I have (but that involves scanning them next door)
you can crimp fit them or solder the wires. the heat shouldnt really affect a bubble, the melting temp for plexi is about 250 degrees and unless somethng goes horribly wrong, it wont get that hot in your PC. it sounds cool though!
I think he means in terms of cooling the PC not whether the plexi will melt or not. Many Pcs manage fine wihtout an exhaust in the top, but if you plan on wcing you would be fine anyway. Looks in the electronics section of modding as there is an LED guide there.
Hello Revol and welcome to the world of modding! You can use standard Molex connectors which is what I used in my recent mod. They're cheap and easy enough to crimp.. be sure to pick up a Molex extractor tool (very handy), but I've seen some ball point pens that can do the same. As far as wiring together.. I always solder and heatshrink all my wires.. that IMO is the proper way to do it.. as far as cable sleeving I love the mesh type of sleeving like this stuff: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/3702/slv-01/Black_14_Nylon_Cable_Sleeve.html?tl=g35 What I'll do is sleeve my wires then heatshrink then ends over to prevent fraying. As far as heat pockets (which is what I think he's referring to) it depends on the airflow and how deep a dome it is.. if it seems on the extreme then find a tasteful way to vent it.
