    Nope, Every bank uses a PPI and MailSort or WalkSort or whathaveyou... It's actually a lot more like £0.20 per letter sent tbh.. That's if they're even using RM, a lot use TNT and others.

    (Sorry to be dull but I've wasted more than a reasonable amount of my life trying to get cheaper postage for the business. Thus I am now more than well versed in RM postage discounts)

    So 4% of that £5 then. (thanks for contributing to the huge hike in Joe public's postage costs by driving down RM's business revenue then :p)

    It doesn't change the fact that there are direct fixed costs (postage, stationary, etc) and indirect overhead costs (which of course on a percentage basis should be driven down the more chargeable activities are undertaken) associated with that statement landing on someone's doorstep.
