Having recently purchased a XFX DD 7950 i was very happy with my purchase. A very quick card with ooodles of overclockability . A few days ago cruising the B-grade section of overclockers i came across a KFA2 GTX 670 for very little money. So i bought it. I didnt expect it to turn up in good condition given the price i paid for it, but expected something that maybe i fire up a game and get many artifacts/overheating etc etc. This didnt turn out to be the case. It arrived fully boxed with all accessories intact just the card didnt have any anti static bag or anything of the like. Ive put it in the computer and it a real peach. Works really well. Lovely card, had to put a fan profile on it to raise the fan speed to keep the temps in good order as the card doesnt spin up untill 85c . Some thing that KFA2 have done to keep it near silent as poss, and it is very very quiet. I have to get rid of one of these cards. I had no choice but to buy it as it was so so cheap, but i have no need for two. Which one would YOU get rid of ??? Id say the 670 is just a little faster.
Bigger OC headroom on the 7950, and I've got one and love it, so I'd say keep the 7950. But I'm biased....
For absolute performance the GTX 670 is the better choice to keep. The 7950 probably offers better 'bang per buck' and may be more attractive to potential buyers, for the right price.
The 670 is quiet but it does get very warm. Ive seen temps well into the 80's under load. Need to sort more exhaust from the case. P183 not the greatest at cooling. Im giving the 670 a good test run for a few days and see what i think. The 7950 is a really good card but the DD cooler isnt that quiet.
Considering they both offer nigh on identical performance (outside of canned benchmarks) keep the one that is easier to live with (quieter, drive control panel preference etc).
Well, ive been having some issues with 670 this morning. Keep getting that driver error where 'driver has stopped working' . I cant live with that. Reluctantly put the 7950 back in. Clean instal and after burner set at 1000mhz core 1300 on the memory im pulling 300 points more in 3d mark 11. *8900* Ive set a new fan prolfile and its much easier to live with i think. Running those setting on 3d mark im topping 74c on the card. Im not a serious hardcore gamer so i dont think its a big deal either way. Given that i only paid £119.99 for the GTX 670 i think im gonna stick it on the bay. Make a few £'s on it and be happy. Dont think id be very comfortable selling this on the market place just in case. Shame real pretty card.
