Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but I just need a little help. I recently nicked my outer shell of my laptop and I just want to paint it back. I read on here that bondo is good but the nick is not that deep so I figure a little paint might do the trick. My question is what kind of paint can I use to get it or at least almost get it back to original color (silver)? Its not really a big deal but I try to take good care of my stuff and fix things like this when I know I can. Thanks ------------------------------------- HP DV1000 series
Hi and welcome to the forums Dunno if you guys get anything like this over in the states but anyway, over here we can get car paint "touch-up pens" which is basically car paint in a marker pen, you _may_ be able to get one of those in a local store which matches the colour perhaps? The reason I suggest this is because they also tend to fill the gaps in slightly. I can't say it's a sure fix but definatley an idea to go on ::EDIT:: Not a good picture but an example of what we have over here: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...nt=&CarSelectorCatalogId=&CarSelectorGroupId=
Yeah we have those. Honestly that hadent even crossed my mind! But I guess my next question would be how to match it up? But I guess silver is rather a generic color so it shouldnt be too hard. Appreciate it!
If the pen doesn't work, painting won't be easy, and if you are inexperienced at painting computer parts I suggest you live with the scratch, because painting involves dismantleing the laptop to get the outer shell off, sanding, painting, lots of patience and a bit of luck. Good luck if you have to paint, google "laptop painting guides" and read about it a lot before even starting.
Well, I decided I am going to attempt to fix the scratch. I'll take my time with it. But what I really need to no is what would be the best kind of paint to use on a plastic lid?
Well, the paint repair pens really only come in metal paint, because almost always when your car scratches its the metal, not the plastic. Regardless, the metal paint should work fairly well on the plastic.
