Electronics a little help figuring out what this means

    ok, i finaly found what i have been looking for but there are no pictures on the site. its THIS article at hack a day. it allows me to wire an input to my stero in my truck. now im pretty sure all it is telling me is to wire a switch to my speaker wires and chop in an audio input to it. can someone help me and draw a picture :D .i want to have a decent idea before i go solodering and drilling the dash of my truck.

    NOT the speaker wires, he's got an extra stereo input on that radio for a CD Changer source, all he's done is put a 2 Pole 2-way switch in the line to switch between the CD Changer and the iPod.

    gotcha, anybody have any ideas on how i can hook a mp3 player up to my head unit, i know i can by a kit but that like $50 for somthing i can prolly do

    my stero is just a JVC, dont know the model off the top of my head, and my mp3 player is just a cheap usb flash one.

    we realy need more information on which model it is. some have inputs and some dont.

    its a jvc kd-s580, i dont believe there is any type of input.

    it dose not look like you will be able to do this with the HU you have unless your speakers are running off amps.

    ya, if you have the money, buy a new head unit, i'd recommend alpine. if you get one that is ipod ready or whatever, you can buy the thing that connects from your ipod to a box (here ) to your cd player, then control the music thru your cdplayer and not even touch the ipod except when you hook it up. if your interested, i could recommend some things for you, but your looking at at least 200 dollars for the cd player (quick example) and another 100 for the box to hook your ipod up to.

    or you could buy a new head unit that has rca inputs and get an RCA to 3mm headphone jack and control your songs with the ipod.
