Hello, I looking at buying a flash, more specifically the Sony HVL-F42AM. £157 from amazon and £50 cash back from sony. I have a A200 by the way. BUT! Amazon say it will be 1 to 3 MONTHS before it will be dispatched . And I cant wait that long, but anywhere else it is ~£200+? and that is way out of my budget! Has anyone ordered anything form Amazon with a dispatch time like this? And did it actually take this long? Or are they just covering them selfs? Also on the Sony cash back form it says I need to send them a European guarantee information document? What is that? Or is there any other flashes worth looking at (for a Sony A200) around £100? One thing it must have is the ability to be used wirelessly. Thanks in Advance, Matty
107 GBP for a flash? a Sony product? I smell a scam. Is it direct from Amazon? or an affiliate company? why? do you have a porn shoot lined up or something? because this is the real price and not the scam being run Flashes ain't cheap, and you bought a Sony who are even less cheap. My SB's were $500 a pop. When you buy camera equipment there is usually a form in there to be stamped and filled out by the shop where you bought it. They want the form to be sure you bought a flash meant for the EU market and not one from HK. Look at a Sigma EF-530 DG Super. not sure if it's able to do wireless though. Worst case, does Sony offer a dumb optical trip mode? Also look at a Metz 58. I'd lean towards the Metz, if only because I have used other products from them. Or buy any flash with a pc syc and get a radio trigger.
Tophandys-ltd have one for sale through the Amazon.co.uk site for £159.99 if that helps, but only 1 left in stock. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-HVLF42AM-CEA-HVLF42AM-External-flash/dp/B00161ZML4/ref=pd_cp_ce_1 Otherwise, the Sony store is selling them for £279.96 inc. VAT. Everywhere else on the Internet is selling them at around the £200 mark, and to be honest, that's what I'd expect to pay. You could try the Amazon reseller, in the hope that if something goes wrong Amazon would back you up.
The flash is from amazon themselves and not an affiliated company, the cash back if from sony. The Two links i provided show that. No but it is my birthday soon, and would be a nice present, And would you really want to wait 3 months for something to arrive? I first found out about sony's cash back offer when I had a look in my local Jessops, and I followed it up by some research. I know flash's are not cheap, But $500 is way more than my budget! And thanks for the recomendations... thanks Silver51, That might be what Im looking for Thanks!! Matty
