I always seem to be testing motherboards or testing other items using my test motherboard and I got annoyed about using a screw driver to short terminals. So I decided to make something that would irradicate the issue plus add in a power led, hdd activity led and a reset switch in a neat and tidy unit. After receiveing the box I ordered from Hong Kong and the frnt panel leads from GaryP I made this. It's nothing fancy but I'm pleased with it and functions as it should. Excuse the purple sleeving as I rather over bought it length wise when I did my daughters pc and it's all I had knocking around
Nice little job you've done there mate. Have you got link for the seller of the boxes please? I have been looking for some like that for ages. Hong kong seems a bit far away though for postage though
Box on ebay Only £1.03 inc postage, don't know how they can sell stuff and make a profit, did take 2 weeks to arrive but who cares.
It's a bit off-topic, but I figured it was worth the information. The short answer is volume. NPR's Planet Money Team did a story recently in which they tried to buy something for 1 penny in Manhattan. The cheapest transaction they could find was a single washer for 2 cents, which prompted the question how the washer could be so cheap considering everything it takes get metal ore in the ground to end up as a washer sitting on a store shelf in New York.
Yes I see what you mean but the washers aren't sent singularly through the post which this is. I'd imagine the boxes are produced for something like a penny but they still have to package and post and it's the post that I would think is where the most cost would arise.
