Hey guys. Im currently deciding on which parts to buy for my new computer etc and which latop to get. Another thing that has come up is a new screen.I currently have a 19" viewsonic which is great but iw as wonding. Should i upgrade to one of dells widescreen monitors or should i get a projector? If so which one? It would have to be able to play games do everyday work and be good for films. I know nothing about projectors so your help is greatly needed. Thanx all Mark
You really don't want to go through all the hassle of darkening the room, pulling down the screen and warming up the projector for doing everyday work and games. Projectors are suited for movies and presentations and not for everyday word processing, etc. I have an Infocus X1 and a Dell 24" widescreen and only use the projector for movies - it is simply too much hassle to use it for anything else. Also nothing beats the 1920x1200 resolution of the LCD.
That makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't start looking at projectors unless you can easily achieve blackout conditions, which is not a great idea for general computer use. as der meister said - they are great for movies and games but you don't want to be doing word processing and such. Also you would really need to have the projector mounted directly in line with the screen, and level with either the top or bottom of the screen. Otherwise you will need to use keystone correction on it (unless you get one with lens shift) which will really mess your eyes up trying to read text on. Although having said all that, if you are happy keeping your 19" for general computer use, a projector would make an awesome second display.
