In my system I have the corsair Vengence Jet black ram - DDR3, when i bought it after doing some research i found it to be 1.5v but when i was looking at CPU-Z it says the FSB DRAM is 1.6 - see below am i right in asuming that the voltage for this RAM is 1.6 and not 1.5?
And to elaborate on Blogins reply... DRAM Frequency: 800.xx -> This means your RAM is running at 1600MHz. This is because the RAM is DDR, in your case DDR3. DDR = Double Data Rate, so whatever the speed reported by CPUz is; you double it and that is your "effective" RAM speed. FSBRAM -> This is not your RAM Voltage. It is a ratio of FSB Speed to RAM Speed.
I see, was only asking as i have seen videos online of people overclocking their RAM and ws thinking of giving it a bit more juice, but thought i would check on here before i did something that i would regret lol
Noob. Open CPU-Z, click on the SPD tab, then select the sockets which have the RAM inserted; voltage is shown at the bottom of the 'timings table' ( whether that's actual/current or rated voltage I don't know ).
yes your right I am a noob as i am new to overclocking and the programs used, but yeah i looked at this and it does show 1.5v but like you said whether that's actual/current or rated voltage I don't know
I see... HWMonitor will report different things depending on what sensors your motherboard has. I would do as SuicideNeil suggests. The BIOS part, not the CPUz "SPD" tab as that only shows what the RAM is rated for not the actual voltage being fed to the RAM. PS: Don't pay attention to SN either... he's just being a bit of a "grump"... more likely just pulling your chain. The only "dumb questions" are the ones not asked. You need to ask in order to learn. Go to your BIOS and make your way to the AI-Tweaker section... Scroll down until you find the DRAM Voltage; you'll find the number there.
thanks xXSebaSXx will have a look tomorrow before i go for the second day of my boring course, going to bed now as i have to be up at 5:30 in the morning
