Original post here on [H]ardOCP ... Since I've been reading some of the stuff here, thought ya'all would appreciate it. The virgin webplayer was originally designed to be a pretty descent internet appliance, a little history here Neet info link here and here and info BBS here Now for the pics... Overall paint job with [H]ardOCP badge and flames.... Nother frontal... cept closer... LED with a twist... (using the modem headers for voltage, will give pinout if asked) Oh and of course I rounded that ugly IDE cable... Yes ladies and gents... a case fan... with the Hard drive in there, she gen's alot of added heat that the case was never designed to dissapate... thus it looks cool AND is functional... Good general shot of her ass... She will play starcraft... oooh yea... I saved my modem. Mostly cause I'll end up taking her on the road also. I cut out the phone line portion of the modem jack as you see on the left. On the right is an old ISA NIC. I cut out the jack and mounted it next to the modem jack. Here I'm soldering my wires that will go from the Linksys USB NIC to the plug I just ripped out from the pic above. Now all I have to do is jack in on the back instead of a long USB/NIC dongle... hehe... Here is my extra chipset heatsinks you get with the Vantec cooler... I put mine on the big chips (this one is the CS5530 Geode companion IC) Here is where I got the power for the fan. Stress brought his from the other side of the mobo, but there's a 5V supply (red wire) just up the road from the chip =) Next is a finished pic of my internal mods for now. Note that I put the second Vantec chipset heatsink on the DSTN controller (another Geode companion IC) Oh yea, I kept the LED power on the modem header, but soldered the wires on the bottom of the pins so that the modem card would still slide down on the pins. I also did the reset switch mod, but I used my button as the front suspend button instead... Also did a Hard Drive activity light mod, what a bitch that was solderin those suckers, hehe... Bout it for me for a while, unless I can come up with a way to get one of those PCI card exhaust coolers installed, hehe... While mine is only overclocked to 233 MHz, I still have no real problems. Before I started on the last set of mods, she was up for several days straight.
