Hello all. I've recently upgraded my pc and for the first two months experienced no problems what-so-ever, however over the last month or so I've had a weird problem:

every week (sometimes almost to the day) I have trouble booting my computer. It won't go into Windows and it takes about 5 attempts before it seems to work fine (or sometimes it will enter Windows but then almost immediatly go into the BSOD). Every other day it works first time with no trouble at all.

Whenever I attempt to enter Windows Safe Mode it just goes back to trying to boot up.

Also, it will sometimes inform me that Asus Express Gate is not fully installed.

Is that whats causing my problem? If so, should I try booting up with the Express Gate disc inserted and try a repair?.

One other thing, occassionally I'm told that my computer only has 4gb of RAM installed when it should be 6gb. So obviously one of my sticks is a bit faulty (I'll have to open it up and find out which one), so is it possible that that is also ausing me some trouble?.

    My specs are:

    Asus P6T mobo
    Core i7 930
    GTX 280 GPU
    6gb RAM
    850W PSU
    Windows 7 64-bit.

Any help or thoughts will be much appreciated.

Reset your CMOS and load some defaults, then run Memtest86+ to find out which stick has gone bad.

Thanks I will. But do you think that the faulty stick is my problem?. Could that cause it?.

I'd be happy if that was the problem because that I can deal with.

Dodgy RAM has caused BSODs for me before. Memtest usually shows up problems. Post the results for all to see.

Wow, been on the Memtest website provided by CapnPedro (thanks) and at a complete loss as to what I should be downloading.

There are sooooo many options, what is it I want?, bearing in mind I'm using Win7 64-bit.

Version 4.1 at the top. Either the "Auto-installer for USB Key" which runs from a USB drive, or the "Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)" which you need to burn to a CD-R/RW with ImgBurn/Nero/PowerISO/etc.

You then boot from the USB drive or CD.
