Not a big update but some small stuff. I have been sick so needless to say not much modding got done. I made a mistake when I was measuring for the bottom fans so I had to mount the fans outside the case otherwise they would bump into the bottom of the hard drive bay. This isn't to bad, I will probably make a fan guard like the one on the top to cover the fans and make them look a little nicer. With the added height I needed to use taller feet so I found some plastic casters off a rolling drawer. I mounted all the internal components so I can start getting an Ideas on how to wire everything. I also started on mounting brackets for the front bezel using angle aluminum. Let me know what you think!
Sweet! the advantage with having the fans outside, is that the inside seems much less cluttered! keep it coming!
if you have the time i would put some kind of skirt around the bottom of the case just to make it look cleaner and that is one monsterous heat sink!!!!!!!
Thanks! I hadn't thought about it that way, but it does keep things cleaner. I have the time! As well as a skirt I will be moving to Lian-Li casters (the ones I have now are swivel casters and the back ones are bumping into the fans. The cooler is the Thermaltake SpinQ and to be totally honest I haven't been that impressed with it. Its fine when at stock speeds, I spent a little time over the weekend OCing and it doesn't keep things as cool as I would like it. I would like to change it out for a Cooler Master V8, Titan Fenrir or a Thermalright Ultra-120. The spiral design and internal fan doesn't really take advantage of all the air moving through the case. Bigger is better right?
Having spent some time testing CM coolers, I must say that you would be better off with a Fenrir or a TRUE. The V8 just isn't good enough.
I had a new Idea for a paint scheme so I did a few renders to test the concept. YES I know, I can't make up my mind! This is inspired by the hot rod/salt flat racer style paint job. Candy red, with white pin stripes and flat black body. The gloss white interior will really help the internals stand out as well. That and a few chrome bits sprinkled in for good measure. Its a rough concept but you get the Idea! Let me know what you think! This or the original white and red?
personally prefer the white and red, but i like the paint lines you have above. always think of this when i see your mod http://www.jefflewis.net/graphics/aircraft/Gee_Bee_racer.gif
so new poll? I like the new render, but I can't help but think that black and red has been overdone. Personally, I would stick with the red/white.
That is partly where I got my inspiration. I actually got to see that plane once at an air show. I would start a new poll if I could, anyone know how to delete the old one? I do think red and black has been done a lot but this is a bit different style than most of the "black with red lights" style cases.... But here is a red and white, with a silver pin stripe! It does look good....
