my system runs really stable at 100 mhz dram speed (not FSB) but reall unstable at 133 and ive tried changing the ram ne ideas?
The Asus boards are VERY picky about memory. My brother had a PC133 stick that his A7V would not run at 133. He bought some others, and it does run those at 133. Just try more different sticks, and make sure that they're CAS2 rated (or will run that).
also check ur psu, a mate of mine has exactly ur setup except for gfx he has a gf2pro, and he used to have stability problems at 133mhz fsb until he got a decent psu....just a thought...
its a 300 watt anatech psu or antec or something like that ne ways it is apparently p4 compliant (dosent bother me really) is this a good psu. psus are one of the things i dont know about :-/
I've always used generic PC133 ram and I haven't had any problems. I'd check into some other areas. When you say 'unstable' do you mean you get complete lock ups or do you get blue screens or windows crashes popups? Make sure you have all the VIA 4in1 drivers installed. And all the other most recent drivers. Good luck! -Dave
unstable being UT wont start in safe mode for 3 or 4 tries then it works then stops working again, BSOD's irregularly ie not a temp prob, software crashing (in xp where u have to click dont send ), computer resetting. its not a temp prob as my cpu is at 29 degrees atm and the gforce is at 50 oh and i got an active memory cooling kit and its not stable with the cooling kit on or off im running al the latest drivers including the VIA 4 in 1s VIA AGP driver (as updated separately) Nvidia 23.11 ref drivers latest drivers from creative and the 1008 bios for the motherboard
Sounds like a memory or temperature problem. Are you sure the sensors for temp are set up properly? 50C anywhere in a machine sounds high.
my mate whos got the a7v133-c (i believe the same as urs cause thats the one that runs the athlon xp) has problems that he gets glitches in cs, and his pc restarts for no apparant reason....he thought it was his ram, but he used someonelses crucial and it was fine, and he used his in someone else and it was fine in that....so im still thinkin that it could be the psu....check the values of the supply for +5 +12 and the vcore in mbm or somethin.....could just be that the mobo aint that great in generall....
