hi i own a a8n 32 sli motherboard (the one with copper heatpipes socket 939)and i was wandering is it possible to use the board fliped upside down so the cpu is at the bottom and the graphics card is at the top
are you guys sure about that....dont heat pipes work on the theory that heat rises......that chip that the heatpipe is cooling is gonna get mighty hot if you turn it upside down,im sure i read somewhere its not a good idea to flip these kinda boards with the heatpipes!
id say it was asking for trouble!....i suggest doing a bit of digging on more forums.....ive seen this question asked a few times on different forums but cant for the life of me rem where
Heatpipes work on the theory of heat dissipation. If end A is hotter then end B, the heat will try and even out amongst the metal, so that end B is eventually the same temperature as end A. So if you have air blowing over end B all the heat will constantly transfer to it. The heat rising principal is a basic principle of physics, it only works when another basic principle (that molecules in a gas or liquid move) is taken into effect, in a liquid or a gas the hotter molecules rise above the cooler ones, so the heat rises, in a solid the molecules cannot move. If any starts on super viscous theory I'll kill em with a mouse.
