I've heard that Abit CPU temperature probes are a little innacurate, but by how much and in which direction?

Do they always show the temperature to be higher/lower, or is it different for every probe?

From what I have heard, they show a temp that is around 10 degrees higher than actual!:eeek:

they r all wrong asus almost 10-20 depending on the baords as the other guys said ( cant recall name at the moment sorry ) get a external probe with a flat prob and put it in the middle of the heat sick or as close to the cpu as posible under the heat sink

Hmm... I think I'll get either a CompuNurse Thermal Sensor or a Enermax Dual Temp Monitor Rack from TheOverclockingStore.

Just out of interest, where exactly do you position the probes? Won't putting it under the heatsink lower the amound of contact between CPU and heatsink?

IMO most of the Abit Probes I've used are all out by miles. I had one in a BE6-II a while ago, and it'd give stupid temps like 60°C from the heatsink, whereas the mobo sensor would say only about 30 odd. Invest in a new one i'd say.
