I know and understand that you can't stop people from romping like rabbits, and China needs to limit its population however they seriously have to consider a high profile campaign of family planning and discount/free contraception distribution, surely?! One is emotionally and physically detrimental for a woman, let alone MULTIPLE times.
Preventative measures are certainly better than remedial steps. The woman mentioned in the story is a nurse though, so surely must know better. If abortions are seen as an alternative to proper contraception then it could become a huge problem, especially when it comes to limiting the spread of STD's.
Different culture. In traditional China, a human being is defined in terms of their relationships and contributions to family and community. Hence they do not think of an unborn fetus as "human" yet. This is also why they are way ahead on embryonic stem cell research. Makes you wonder if they ever heard of contraception, but men don't like condoms, and women don't like the pill messing with their body. Again culturally, sticking chemicals in the body to prevent pregnancy may be seen as more unnatural than an abortion...
But still, what about the emotional and physical consequence of such actions?? /cold *******: Spose a few infertile people won't hurt the population in the large scale of things. It's not like those who live in the cities breathing in all the smog every day will be much better off.
You'd think so. But then, I'm always boggled when I walk around a hospital. I don't have enough fingers to count the number of nurses out on a smoke break. -monkey
I met a trainee surgeon who smoked while in Uni. He used to take *** breaks outside the cancer ward entrance.
