I've heard good and bad things about Ultra PSU,

For that kinda money I'd get a Corsair HX650 for about $110 after a $10 MIR at Newegg

not that you cant be happy with it...i mean, kia sells lots of cars, and some of their buyers come back for more. but overall, ultra is on the wrong side of the quality psu list. they tend to have shoddy build quality inside, poor voltage stability, and flat out inaccurate efficiency ratings. in fact, guru tested the 1200 watt version of that unit, and it failed...badly in fact. as the beast said, you'll be better off with the hx650, much better...

maybe i can get javaman to confirm...

and if i have said this once, i've said it a thousand times...DO NOT USE TIGERDIRECT!!! use newegg...i know, they dont sell ultra...maybe there is a reason for that eh?

So what is the difference between the corsair 650HX and 650TX besides price?

Is there something I should know about Tiger Direct? I ordered from them before.

The HX is modular and the TX has fixed cables.

The TX is sourced from CWT, while the HX is sourced from Seasonic. CWT is a pretty decent PSU manufacturer, but Seasonic is just that bit better (in my opinion at least).

i would go for a corsair, enermax or seasonic or if you can find it the antec 650w which is very good value for money but very good all the same
