I’m making the 3 hour drive to Ohio soon to purchase my setup from them. It’s kinda sad where it’s cheaper to drive 6 hours total, pay for gas and tolls then it is to pay for a gpu on Newegg and have it shipped
I used OCUK purely as an example, they are my favoured goto place for all things PC alongside CCL I think it's called being business savvy and taking advantage (or not dependant on which way you look apon it) of the current climate.
Oh yeah it's deffo business savvy but it kinda sticks in the gullet when they basically say "We will sell you a GPU at the price we are supposed to charge for it as long as you spend all of your money with us"
It is suggested/recommended pricing and it won't be the manufacturers doing it, it will be the retailers who generally have small profit margins cashing in.
Rough guess: From a legal point of view a bundle of items counts as different from the individual items. I don't think there is anything wrong with providing a discount on a bundle, happens here as well, like with this non gpu example: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ripheral-bundle-save-55-pounds-bu-066-as.html That of course doesn't in any way shape or form excuse the stupid price of the individual items in the first place.
Ya I'm also making the 1.5 hour drive to FrozenCpu soon because after my last package got lost for over a month ill drive, and its cheaper to drive then ship lol
I think it was more of the way the post explaining it was worded. It's kinda like me saying "If you come to my garage to buy wheels I will sell you tyres at the going rate, rather than the inflated rate (pardon the pun) I would have charged you before" If they avoid lines like that and stick to bundle? then yeah, I would imagine they would be OK.
I have been looking at GPU's this weekend. Due to get some money in the next few weeks, which means I will be able to upgrade from the 980Ti which I currently have and whilst the 980Ti does 1080p just fine it's struggling in VR. I did find that most card's are around the £850 - £1000 mark, different models etc and watercooled or not but then I found that Novatech have the EVGA 1080Ti SC2 card for £663.43 so I might just the plug on 2 of them, go complete overkill for now but have the headroom for the future. Not sure if Novatech are any good though, I thought they went bust.
If you can get them at that price by all means, do. If not? get a Titan Xp Star Wars. Not a bad investment, all things considered.
While I haven't had any problems with novatech I'm not sure how much value I would attribute to a "Variable Lead Times - Stock Due Soon" promise given the current climate...
I got messed around with them once before many years ago. Ordered a cheap 4890 and it never arrived. Was supposedly in stock in Portsmouth too just up the road but yeah, no card. That was my first order from them and I stuck to my usual guns about being burnt and never returning (much like Scan really). I did, however, order a liquid cooler from them a few months ago and it turned up OK. But yeah, I would be worried about that lead time. Just a placeholder for them to take your cash, then play games. I wouldn't do it, personally.
I wouldn’t do it either. Whilst I have no qualms with Nova, it would be like pulling your thumb out and guesstimating as to when you’ll get it, if you ever do in these times we live in.
