Hello Everybody, Can someone advise me please, I'm running XP on my Acer and the SSD is so slow its really begining to wind me up. I've been thinking of replacing the SSD with a HDD but wasnt sure which route to go down but now im thinking that maybe it might be a better idea to replace it with a quicker SSD, Anybody know any details of the current ssd (Samsung P-SSD 1800) and is there an SSD which I could do a straight swap with? Dazza
Install http://flashfire.org/xe/ you're AAO will fly, takes a tad longer to shutdown but a small price to pay.
Cheers Guys, I already have Flashfire installed and yes its a lot faster than standard but still its too slow, I checked Scan and they've got some super talent SSD's but they look like they're just micro-chips on a PCB rather than the usual SSD we're used to seeing. I've got 1GB ram, but when I check it using CPU-Z it says slot 1 512mb slot 2 is greyed out, is the other 512mb soldered onto the motherboard? Daz
Which AAO do you have? If its the first version the 110/150 you will need a ssd with ZIF connector. They are lil hard to come by sadly. Later models use sata connectors and then its pretty easy. Check the modding section. I`ve posted a lil guide how to swap the hdd on the 110 model
acer Cheers, the model I have is the AOA 110 AGb with a 16gb ssd. not sure if its the first gen or 2nd. any ideas? Daz
It turns out that the ssd in question has a special connector to which its connected to the mobo and you cant switch an swop. only found this out by by buying a new hdd and stripping the machine down.
Damn, wish I had of seen this thread. Recently tried to swap the HDD & SSD between two Aspire ones and found they had the special socket :-( It's a NIGHTMARE to take apart as well. Sorry Mate
