Hi Everyone, I would appreciate some help in choosing between these 2 monitors as I am currently finding it difficult to judge between the two. One seems to be better with regards to response times and contrast ratio - but these days the from what I have read the information can be misguided... I would be very grateful if people could add their opinions of these two monitors. Many thanks... Col
Reviews of both monitors can be found Here, and the NEC 24WMGX3 can also be found Here... The Acer G24 uses a TN panel, and at around ?400 is rather high for that type of panel, whereas the NEC 24WMGX3 uses the AMVA panel. Of those 2 monitors, I would go for the NEC 24WMGX3, as it is the better all-round monitor, owning one myself. I would also have a look at the HP LP2475w, as it is in around that price, and uses an H-IPS panel, this also is an excellent monitor, which I have also owned, reviews of this can be found in above two links. ________ Park Lane Jomtien Resort Condo
If you're a gamer, pretty much anything other than a TN panel is going to be a no-no. There are significant amounts of input lag on IPS/MVA panels.
Thank you Thank you very much for the responses, the reviews are very thorough. WIll definately read through these. Thank you. P.S One question, i have noticed the words 'Professional Gaming' added to the NEC - are their 2 models?...or is this added to hopefully appeal to the gamer as well as the multimedia artist? Thanks
No, there is only one 24" in this series (the 24WMGX3), there is another 24" NEC monitor, the 2490WUXi which uses a H-IPS panel, it has just become available in the UK, but not widespread as yet, and still quite highly priced... It certainly is multimedia orientated, but certainly doesn't lack in the gaming dept... ________ California Medical Marijuana Dispensary
having the name gaming monitor for NEC and at the same time it's not a TN panel means that get my vote. you see, TN panels are great with low input response, but their colour and viewing angle are really bad, so always go for a none TN panel if you can afford it.
Many thanks, I think I will go for the NEC the reviews were very interesting and thorough and I learnt some stuff too, cheers. Col
Don't believe in any slogans such as professional gaming on boxes, unless it has the specs to back it up (which I never did look at, just a general thing) example, creative and its "fatality" lineup which is basically a rebranded product said to be "gaming quality"
Check out the Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA, pretty damn good for $300. Although it's only 22", still IPS Cheesecake.
