I don't think you want to figure out the total time/cost. You would never build again if you knew.:worried:
-Yes. You are a terrible person.

I may. It would be a very, very rough estimate though. Also for fun I could take into account what tuition cost per hour and add that little joy to the bill.

Sorry for the teasers. There isn't much to show when spending days on end sanding. However, what I can do is show you some nice pictures after every grit session!

    80 grit done! (ugh)

Only took about 3 days. I think I'm going to take the aluminum to somewhere around 600 to anodize it. That number is questionable until I talk to a shop around here about the process. Acrylic will be taken much higher and then polished :-D.

    Obligatory night shot.

I realize where you are going with the sanding, but I sort of appreciated the
dimpled effect when you pulled it from the CNC.

It had a certain industrial quality with nice lines.

Well, sort of. I actually taught myself about 3-4 years ago how to CAD and use one. I was, however, enrolled in a Computer-Aided Product Design course where we used CNC machines, and plenty of people had no prior experience.

What I meant by that quote was that I would take into account what 1 hour of my life was worth while I was in school, with respect to paying tuition.

I've had multiple people tell me that, including my girlfriend :wallbash:. It does look pretty slick, but my peeve is that there is no way to keep the surface continuously dimpled without seams...and that would bother me.

Woohoo...150 grit done! At least it goes a lot quicker the higher grit you get to.

I also spent some time sidetracking and sanding one side of the acrylic insert of the front plate. It's not polished yet, so it's not see through. It's still pretty shiny, though.

And some shots of the beauty.
