Has anyone besides Macroman in the article http://www.bit-tech.net/article/63/9 been able to router plexiglass or acrylic? I have a Dremel, but as he said, I don't think it'll be enough to do the job on the plexiglass I want to work on. I'd like to know what others have done, and how they did it. Anyone?
I just got a rounded corner router bit for my dremel but haven't had a chance to test it out on acrylic yet. Everything else I have tried on the dremel has worked on it so far. I use the side-cut router bit to cut plexi. I plan to get a router to use on plexi but don't have the $ yet.
I'd need to use a straight bit because I want to form a lip on edge, but it makes be a bit nervous because it's already fairly thin. Might give it a show this weekend with some scrap and my dremel, but not that optimistic.
Is almost guaranted to chip the acrylic if you router it. Super-sharp bits and variable speed router would lessen the chipage. I might try it but dont want to blunt my bits. (so to speak) ride
