If it only had a couple of months of development and testing left then why cancel? At least they would have got some money back on it?

Because it's not as simple as letting it live a few more months, probably. It would be a case of continuing to pay all the staff and all the testers for that time, advertising costs, release and manufacturing costs, all just to release a game that might not even produce enough profit to cover one of those costs alone.

I really enjoyed the original on the Gamecube although new york version was pretty crap and filled with bugs.

I probably should have explained better...

How much time and money have Activision already invested in this title? Several million, another few hundred thousand isn't going to make a lot of difference at this point unless the game was totally :duh: and wasn't going to sell any at all. If that's the case then it should have been cancelled a lot earlier.

First sucked and never played the 2nd. While it was a great concept GTA just felt better. Plus those stupid stealth missions just pissed me off. I don't think the problem is with cash considering they own the golden cow *cough* warcraft *cough* I call complete bull on that excuse.

Surprising, considering I only read this a few days ago.

To be honest, I haven't been following it in the slightest, but with a title like that I thought it worth going through. They seemed to be really impressed.

I get the feeling Activision are getting too big for their own boots, if it won't be nearly as big as WoW or CoD , it's a failure?
