Activision president Mike Griffith has spoken out in defence of the PC version of Modern Warfare 2.

IW's solution: dumb down by making PC version a cheap console port?

Console: The matchmaking system was a mess. Solo sure not a problem, but if your squad joined good luck getting everyone in on the first shot.

 

Note to clueless execs: "Friendly" does not mean "good". I'd like to think that the average PC gamer is slightly more intelligent than the average console gamer and can handle having to make more than one choice before getting to play with other people. Choices like, oh I don't know, who they'd like to play with.

 

Agreed...

I was fine with the matchmaking to be honest, but reducing the number of players down to 9 a side... What the hell. If I wanted to play a gimped version I'd get it on the consoles and play with the silly sticks.

And then the price! £34.99? How does that work? If that's to pay for another rap song I'll be irritated.

Anyway, my purchase is now going to have to wait for the bargin bin...

I was going to write a long winded post about how this is crap etc but tbh this sums up my opinion perfectly.

 

Just hope EA makes a good BF game... and don't make these bad decisions...

Only way it will improve it is if it eventually starts to open the door for cross-platform play.

This. I wouldn't mind the change so much if this was the case and I'd probably actually buy it as my friends are probably going to get it on the 360. In it's current state it's just BS.

 

Console is gone too?! I don't care how good the SP is, MP was the heart and soul of MW; this is going to be a disaster.

 

In the article i read on Ars, I think the guy pretty much admitted the only difference was keyboard support. There is also no console commands (think ~ in Valve games), no leaning (as in you lean over to see around a corner). Also if the host rage quits the game pauses for five seconds while switching to a new one.

 

Thats because console players are "lemmings" and do anything the game commands them to do or gratefully accepting the console limitations. PC users don't like being forced into a corner, they are bright loving exploring people that want to do all things what their PC's can offer them and if not they expand their horizons by adding some more hardware. Why? because PC users can!

 

It's amazing how many euphemisms there are for "console port", eh?
