So I bought a m17x and will be picking it up when I return stateside. I got a 320 GIG HDD with it however I remember on the dell site there being an option to add a second HDD in a raid format.

What I want to do is add my own second Hard Drive for storage I figured a 2.5" 500-640 GiG HDD would be a nice addition.

I currently have a 1.5 TB external I use for movies, tv shows, back up etc.

So should this be possible? if so how easy?

I've built tons of desktops in the past, but it's hard to figure out without the laptop being in front of you.

Im going to guess here but i dont think the sata ports for the second drive will be present if you didnt specify the option, the reason i say that is because my toshiba lappy, also had the option of 2 harddrives, but i went for the single drive option with the idea that i could just do what you want to, and even though the lappy has the removable panel where the second drive should go there arent any connections soldered to the board.

I decided it really wasnt worth the hassle of ripping it apart to solder the connectors on, on the off chance that it would work. Maybe when i get a new 1 ill give it a go but until then ill make do with a single drive:sigh:
