I have a set of these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120985975022?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 and I swapped the green light for blue and use the cabling to power up these case feet. The green light set up came with a PCi back slot which had an simple on/off switch and another press switch which controls the frequency of the lighting pattern. I thought how about if I stick an anti vandal switch in the front of my case and remove the wires from the rear press switch and connect them to the AV. The lights work but I have no control, so obviously this switch is no use to me, I suppose I could have used the original but it is green plastic where as the AV matches my case. What switch should I have used and where do I get one?
You'd need a switch that toggles between on and off. A lot of the AV switches for PC use are momentary and are therefore not much use, unless you make some sort of latching circuit.
Great have found some here, http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/Toggle_Switches.html Edit: I notice these switches have five pins whereas the one that came with the controller only had two. So how do I wire such a switch up?
Two pins are for the LED, and the other three are for the switch. You'll only need two out of the three tho, but you'll figure out which ones. See the diagram -> http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_3331.html
