    Hello again,

I have here a Alcatel Speedtouch adsl modem, as they were handed out by the telecom from holland. Does anyone know if or how i can get this thing to work with the spanish adsl supplied by telefonica?

I searched all ways but for some reason no one is ablr to tell me what the settings should be or how to change them manually...

Does anyone know of software of some kind that sniffs the modem i'm using now ( a little usb thingy) Telefonica isn't very helpfull in this matter.

Edit: Mods, if this is posted in the wrong forum, please move. For some reason i thought of this as modding...

you say you have speedtouch usb thingy; as far as i know the only difference you can have between countrys is the telephone plug (a friend both a modem/router in germany; and he couldn't use it because of the different plug) but most of the times issues like those can be solved easly. As for settings; you get those from your isp; simple as that; and if it"s a usb like you say it is; you just need the login and pass

as for the forum; this is about modding; sow i guess it's the wrong one yes :p

not sure if its the same in europe, but most dsl modems here have a serial port on the back of them, that you can use to reflash the hardware with the ISP's settings. Example, here in Calgary, there are a couple of ISP's. Telus is the big one, and they sell all of the hardware. So you buy a telus modem, and then just take it to a tech at the ISP and they reflash it for you (or if you have any skill whatsoever, you do it yourself). Try googling that, see if you get anywhere.

Different countries have different forms of DSL. I know this because when setting up my router I has to input the settings for the uk.
