    Hi there,

I would like some input on hose sizing and choice of rad for my rig.
Over the last few months I have been picking up bits and bobs to watercool my rig.

    So far I have:

CPU - Swiftech Apogee XT 1156
    GPU - EK FC-GTX470 w/Backplate
    VRM - 2x Koolance MVR-40 w/ 76mm & 84mm plates
    PMP - Laing DDC 1plusT w/EK DDC X-Top V2
RES - Alphacool Cape Corp Bullseye w/Flush Tube

I have yet to pickup Hose, fans, fittings and rad/s

Any personal experience/input would be appreciated.
I've not had a FULL system under water, just CPU's

    Cheers

P.S - I'm cooling GTX 470 and i5 760 on Maximus III gene, The case is custom so any size rads could work. :dremel:

I personally use 13mm/19mm tubing as I like the look of it, but TBH size doesn't matter.

For fittings look at Phobya or EK as they're fairly cheap. If you want the best Bitspower somes are the best but are very pricey. I prefer the security of comprssion fittings personnally (and the look) but they are more expensive than barbs.

I always go with Scythe Gentle Typhoon fans as they're the best in class for rads. I use the 1850rpm models.

As for the rad, its all down to what case you get really. You'll be wanting something like a RX360 though really.

P.S. Have you looked through my thread? :)

    Hi Pete,

Just finished reading over your post, tis a big un, nice rig and info.

Ive been reading about flow rates and the use of 90 degree angles (cringe)
Because there is tight space around the CPU/VRM area I was thinking about using something like this:

Sorry about the sketch, as quick as I could slap it togther quickly, lol

Should I be concered about losing pressure with all the 90 deg fittings in the design?
    Anyone rekon this will work?
I can use normal straight connectors on the rest of the system if need be.

I've found the bits power angled connectors are way better than the phobya ones, as the phobya's narrow, while the bitpowers ones keep their diameter so cause no loss of flow. I use load in my new build and it works perfectly.

I'd go for 7/16 ID by 5/8" OD using 1/2" barbs.
I also think tubing size does make a difference in a number of fields.
7/16 is also a nice size as you can just warm it in some hot water and use a interference fit over the barbs it shouldn't leak even without hose clamps.

For a good run down of all your questions i'd look here
