I want to buy a 2000 CDN$ computer. What do you thing of this: -Nikao Blue Nobless case -Asus A7V333 Raid -256 MB 333mhz ddr Major -60 gig Maxtor DX740X -ATI All-In-Wonder 8500 64 MB -Samsung 955DF 19" Monitor -Logitech Keybord and optical mouse -16x Asus DVD drive -52x Sony CD drive -SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 OEM -Creative Inspire 5.1 -Aopen 56k PM Hardware modem -Goldstar 40/40/12 CD-RW OEM -350W PSU This is 2339.42 CDN$ (with taxes). What do you think of this. You can try to make something better on http://www.micro-extreme.com/html/pricelist.asp It's in french but it's very easy to understand. You scroll and choose what you want. Thanks. :Edit: Sorry I forgot these pieces. I would put an Athlon XP1900+ but I don't know wich HSF to use. :Edit:
Well, that setup seems pretty reasonable, but what about the CPU and HSF? And as for cost, I have absolutely no idea how much Canadian $ are worth, but there are a few of you guys around for help there!
Ok here's my 2 cents I would get 512mb of RAM, it's so cheap now there's no good reason not to. If you're a gamer, then you would be better off looking at a Geforce card. Do you really need a burner, dvd AND CDROM? One more thing, make sure you get a good brand of PSU eg. enermax because if it's cheapo it may lead to instability, failures to cold boot etc.
I disagree about the graphics card there! I have an 8500 and it is fantastic for virtually all the games that are out there at the moment and I think it would be fine for this system particularly if you are after TV functions as well! As for the PSU, very, very good point particularly with reference to recent posts. It certainly pays not to forget that a quality lower watt PSU can be far better than a lower quality higher rated one!
AHHHH DAMNIT!!! MY EARS!!!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE WARN ME WHEN A WEBSITE HAS THE MOST ANOYING SOUNDS EVER!!!! sorry but I had my head phones on and was listening to some pretty loud music and then those horible sounds come on at like 100x my music's volume. Well I jumped up and threw the headphones off which then smacked right into my laptop's screen.
It looks like a good price... you can cross check with URL=www.infonec.com]Infonec[/URL] or Pc Canada Sry there both based in Toronto, but you'll get a good idea of what prices are like. And there not in french. As for the Pwr Supply I would also recommend an Enermax, there very reliable and come with a decent warranty. Mine blew almost a year after purchase and it was replaced... (took two months thankfully I had backup... it got lost in the mail) I'm not sure about this, hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong but if your adding all those drives, you might want a higher rated power supply. Because when you computer boots you might be drawing too much power. I'll look it up when I get home, there is a math calculation you can do to verify. Just another thought, how are you logging on line? You might need a network card... for high-speed...
Nah, a good 350 watt should be fine for that setup! Just looking again though, why do you need a CD drive and a DVD Drive when DVD drives run CDs as well?
very nice mobo (see sig)...but for the ram id go for some crucial, and maybw 512 aswell if you can afford it... for the hsf get a alpha pal 8045....cant go wrong with them....
Ok so I forget the CD drive, add an Enermax power supply, 512 mb of corsair ddr and a Taisol 760. Do you know where I can find the ram and the hsf in eastern Canada (or somewhere else in Canada that ship to Québec)
probably best to ask someone like cool hand who lives in canada, whos more likely to know... u can catch him on irc every once in a while....
