Quick question: Can anyone give me a educated opinion regarding the noise difference between different Laing DDC pumps? If I have understood correctly, there's 2 versions (10w and 18w) with plenty of rebranding (Swiftech's MCP350 and 355 etc) . I'm fully aware of noise being subjective matter, but I'd really need something to base my purchase on. Would 18 watt version be disturbing over 5-6 "regular" 1k rpm fans? I'm not after fully silent setup, but I do want my setup to be reasonably quiet. I'm plannin to watercool my rig and I really can't decide how to set it up. I'll be using 2 Swiftech mcr-220 rads, EK supreme HF for cpu and supreme VGA for gpu. Right now I'm thinking to get 2 separate loops with MCP350 pumps, but maybe i could get away with one (loop) ?
get the 10W version, as you can simple mod it to 18W. A chap here modded his with a switch so that he could bump the power up when needed as he uses it on his bench table. You could easily use a single loop.
As long your loop isn't particularly restrictive and your flow rate is good enough you can make do with a single loop. Dual loop does add performance but 1-2 degrees of performance might not suit your fancy. I recommend simply getting a stronger pump. A MCP 655 is more than strong enough to run two rads and two blocks.
I was under the impression the D5 was made obsolete by DDC pumps, so I never even bothered looking it up. Seems I was wrong, quick glance through specs and I think I'll try D5 vario instead, although i'll have to redesign most of the setup. Which is fun. Good thing I have so far only bought the rads. Thanks.
