Hey. Not really a subject that is covered much on here but see what knowledge we can collectively share on this subject. My dad wants a USB TV Tuner that does the following: Allows him to watch TV + HD Free view channels (DVB-T2??? OR DVB S2?? Im confused) Record one channel simultaneously Integrate flawlessly into Windows Media Center What products would you recommend? What knowledge can you share on similar products? I'm looking at this but but doesn't allow the free-view HD channels in Media center. It will only display in its own proprietary software which defeats the point as my dad doesn't want to be switching between programs to watch TV : http://www.ebuyer.com/246099-pctv-n...compact-hd-digital-dvb-t2-usb-2-0-stick-23076 -aLti
Some additional resources worth reading: http://www.avforums.com/forums/windows-7/1356798-dvb-t2-media-center.html http://thedigitallifestyle.com/w/index.php/2010/11/27/freeview-hd-with-windows-media-center/ http://usingwindowshomeserver.com/2...freeview-hd-channels-in-windows-media-center/ Also found a company called Blackgold that seem to sell products that do DVB and DVBT2 but no USB ones available, only PCI-E cards http://shop.blackgold.tv/
Ok so Ive created a thread that Ive answered my own question in but its taken me a few hours to get to grips with. To summarize the problem: There are not many DVBT2 (capable of receiving the free-view HD channels) products around Those that do exist have bugs and problems integrating into Windows media center Some solutions suck, like having to watch SD TV in media center, and HD channels in their own proprietary software. (Switching applications to change TV channel, oh dear) Enter http://www.blackgold.tv They have managed it to get it to work and offer Microsoft certified WHQL drivers for 32bit and 64bit Windows Vista and 7 OS's. Im buying this. The BGT3620 : http://shop.blackgold.tv/epages/BT3159.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT3159/Products/BGT3620 Problem solved
